What is PRP?
PRP is an abbreviation for Platelet Rich Plasma. PRP is a blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. PRP contains several different growth factors and other cytokines that stimulate the healing of bone and soft tissue.
How is PRP Created?
A small amount of blood is drawn for the patient and then spun at a very high speed in a centrifuge. The platelets are concentrated and injected in the joint(s) being treated. The PRP, at this point, contains 3-5 times the concentration of growth factors compared to normal blood and, when injected, helps to aid the body’s natural healing process.
At Restored Images, we offer PRP Joint Injections to help provide relief for painful joints. If you are interested in learning more about this procedure or would like to schedule an appointment, please contact our office today.
